Law Office Of Martha J. (“Marti”) Ashcraft
A lawyer with 32 years experience, Marti practices in the areas of business law, business litigation, and energy law. Marti spent 30 years as a partner in several of the largest law firms in Nevada, 25 of those years as a partner. In the fall of 2008, when the depth of the country’s economic crisis became clear, Marti observed that business, large and small, became more cost conscious and seeking greater value for the dollars spent on legal services. Although Marti had developed the background, expertise and experience that comes with being in “Big Law”, she knew that the time had come for a different approach to her law practice. Marti realized that she could provide the highest quality in legal services at much more affordable rates by opening her own law practice. And thus, the Law Office of Martha J. Ashcraft was born.
Marti works with business clients large and small to determine optimal organizational structure and form various types of business entities including corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships. She advises directors, stockholders, managers, members and partners in complex transactions and disputes. Marti has drafted and negotiated a wide range of contracts including but not limited to stock and asset purchase transactions, loans, leases, mergers and acquisitions.
When, despite the best hopes and expectations, a business relationship takes a turn for the worst, Marti assists clients with a wide variety of business, contract and commercial issues including litigation in both state and federal courts. She develops case theories and strategies; drafts pleadings, motions, discovery and correspondence; analyzes and researches complex legal issues and handles all aspects of the litigation to ensure that cases are prosecuted or defended with adherence to the highest standards of quality, efficiency, professionalism and ethical behavior.
In the area of energy law, Marti represents clients in electric and renewable energy matters including proceedings before the Nevada Public Utilities Commission. She has been involved in numerous general rate cases, deferred energy accounting adjustment cases, integrated resource plan dockets, proceedings for the approval of various projects and facilities, and dockets involving the adoption of regulations concerning renewable energy projects and issues and net metering.
The philosophy of the Law Office of Martha J. Ashcraft is simple, but uncommon: to know and understand the business, goals and objectives of our clients, and then to be thoroughly knowledgeable and completely prepared to do what is necessary to achieve those goals and objectives.
